Goalkeeper Chris Kirkland and Love Island’s Jessica Hayes to Appear at Yapa Launch
Yapa, a mental health app from Temptr Founder and CEO Jack Knowles, is set to host a launch party in Birmingham next month.
The launch night, held at Olivia’s, will feature a host of celebrity guests. Chris Kirkland, a former England goalkeeper on the app’s core team, will be in attendance.
Love Island winner Jessica Hayes is also expected, as are contestants Idris Virgo and Kieran Nicholls. Lydia Lucy, a finalist on the UK edition of The Voice, is another guest named by Yapa.
Yapa has a number of celebrity supporters. Actress and TV personality Danniella Westbrook, herself an industry entrepreneur with Serious Dating, has endorsed the mental health platform on Twitter.
Knowles said in September: “The support has been amazing, from musicians to sportspeople to reality stars, YAPA really is going to be special.
“There will be verified bluetick profiles for well-known personalities too and we know of a lot that are joining. The app will be cool and very social, everyone will want to be a part of it.”
Last week, Kirkland spoke to The Daily Telegraph about his own experiences with mental health. Recalling some of the more difficult episodes, he said: “I was living this life, and I could see my real life through the other side. You think there is no way out.”
The app, which encourages users to “send a Yap”, has also been featured by the BBC, Sky and talkSPORT.. A sign up form is live on the website ahead of the launch.
