A new report in the Wall Street Journal says that Google is the latest to be preparing the release of a Stories-style feature.
The tool would apparently allow publishers to create “visual-orientated” media content like Snapchat’s Discover feature.
The content system is apparently called Stamp, and could be announced as early as this week.
Publishers including Vox Media, CNN, Mic, The Washington Post and Time have apparently already been speaking to Google about the feature.
The new tool will use AMP technology, which speeds the mobile web by letting websites build content-rich lightweight pages that load much faster when clicked on in Google search results.
Earlier this year Google opened a beta program to bring these pages to AdWords, allowing advertisers to link their search ads to AMP landing pages, therefore dramatically speeding up an ad’s load time.
Those interested in using AMP pages for their AdWords ads can apply to the beta here.
