You Can Now Sign Up To The EU-US Privacy Shield

Privacy Shield
The EU-US Privacy Shield has gone live.

After two and a half years of negotiations, US companies will now be able to sign up to the Privacy Shield and show that they are willing to comply with EU laws on data protection.

The Privacy Shield assures that data transferred from EU companies to those in the US is handled with the same level of security as it would within the EU.

And the Privacy Shield is particularly important as it legally ensures that US companies who gain access to personal data from the EU treat it in the same way.

This could provide peace of mind for both individuals and businesses, knowing that US companies signed up to the Privacy Shield are legally bound under US law to comply with EU standards.

The Privacy Shield has replaced the Safe Harbour Framework and brings in new rules such as responsibility for the deletion of any personal data that is no longer relevant or necessary.
