Marine Corps to Stop Using Dating Apps as Recruiting Tool

The Marine Corps have been forced to instruct recruiters to not use dating apps to look for new sign ups.

The move comes after a Reddit profile posted an interaction he had on Bumble, with a woman named Kaitlin Robertson.

The message asks the unlucky dating app user: “Have you ever considered joining the military?

“I would love to have one of my recruiters sit down and talk with you about all of your options within the Marine Corps.”

It is not clear whether Robertson is an official employee with the Marine Corps, or if the name is just an alias.

On Bumble the woman has to send the first message, so there may be some strategy behind the selection of the profile and platform.

Recruiters have now been told not to form any sort of professional relationship via any dating apps.
