Upward, Match Group’s newly launched dating app for Christians, is releasing a range of virtual Easter cards to celebrate the traditional holiday in a modern way.
A total of seven cards are available from now until Easter Sunday, which this year falls on 4th April. They are all completely free to share with a partner, family or friends, via email and social media.
Each card features colourful, eye-catching illustrations and faith-based chat up lines. These include “Hey girl, I heard God called you. Can I do the same?” and “I’ve been searching for Psalm-one like you!”
Copy on the dedicated webpage explains: “We’re blessed that we get to make connections for Christian singles looking for love on Upward. So we thought we’d create some Easter cards that help you let that crush know that you’ve got ‘leave the 99 feels for them’.”
However, there is also a reminder to people that the real reason for Easter is to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and to not let the cards distract them completely from the day.
Upward was officially launched at the end of Q3, following the successes of BLK and Chispa, two services that have had success while focusing on specific demographics.
OkCupid released a similar range of e-cards before Valentine’s Day, although some of the designs contained more sexual references. The content was designed to celebrate the unique identities on OkCupid, with recognition for the LGBTQ, BAME and Polyamorous communites.
