Matrimony.com Acquires SecondShaadi.com
The company has received board approval for the new acquisition but has not disclosed the value of the deal.
Murugavel Janakiraman, chief executive of Matrimony.com said: “Buying SecondShaadi will help us consolidate our offerings and help divorcees and widowers get wider choices than ever before.”
Shaadi.com wanted Accentium Web Pvt. Ltd to stop using the word ‘shaadi’ in its domain name. The company accused Accentium’s founder of going against a trademark law.
However, the court said the word was very generic and Shaadi.com couldn’t stop others from using it.
Apart from SecondShaadi.com, Accentium has also ran a number of different businesses, which were all sold.
These included Priceraja.com, which was sold last year and in 2011, Accentium also sold Gaadi Web Pvt Ltd.
In 2007, the company also sold social networking site DesiMartini.com to Firefly eVentures.
