Meeno Expands to NZ & Aus, Releases New Features

Meeno, the AI-powered relationship advice app, is now available on the Apple App Store in New Zealand and Australia. The platform, founded by Renate Nyborg, has now also added a range of new privacy and personalisation features.

Launch in Australia and New Zealand

Meeno, which initially launched in Finland in December 2023, has been described as a “flight simulator to practice social situations” by its founder. The platform helps users to continuously improve how they create IRL relationships through the use of AI-powered advice sharing.

The platform was released in Australia and New Zealand after research found that 9 in 10 young adults in the region use digital tools like Google, Youtube and ChatGPT to navigate relationships. Furthermore almost half (41%) of AU/NZ men aged 18 – 34 use ChatGPT for relationship advice, the platform shared.

This means that “Meeno can provide all these men (and any other iPhone users) with purpose-built, private and non-judgmental advice on interpersonal issues”, it explains.

Together with this new expansion, Meeno has changed its Apple App Store page to better communicate its mission and capabilities. This includes changing its logo from a heart to a star, indicating that Meeno can help develop all relationships, beyond just dating.

Furthermore it’s tagline has changed from ‘Relationship Mentor’ to ‘Relationship Advice’, after confusion over whether it’s AI acted as a companion or “fake person”.

New features

Responding to feedback from its launch in Finland and its further product innovation, Meeno has also released a number of new features to boost the user experience.

Firstly, Meeno’s AI will now provide helpful tips and advice, something that wasn’t done previously. The platform will look to share instant advice as well as foster self-reflection among users. This capability will grow more effective the longer a user interacts with Meeno.

Secondly, the platform has launched Star Count, where users earn in-app credits for the time spent on Meeno. This will track progress, help users to unlock secret rewards, and hopefully make Meeno part of a daily routine.

Thirdly, Meeno has integrated with Apple’s Face ID feature to ‘lock’ the app and ensure that conversations are kept private between the user and the AI.

Fourthly, Meeno now enables voice transcription so users can ‘talk’ to the AI verbally rather than only typing their thoughts. Beyond the added convenience, Meeno highlights that this results in potentially less screen time for users as well.

Finally, the platform is also introducing personalised push notifications to users if they wish to see them. These personalised insights may come in the form of ‘trend reports’ or ‘fun facts’, helping to foster conversation and thought.
