Momo has announced it is currently collaborating on feature film titled The Best Is Yet To Come. The project comes from Momo Pictures, a new wing of the company dedicated to producing original content.
Chinese filmmaker Jia Zhangke will take the lead on the Beijing-set drama as Executive Producer, working alongside first-time feature director Wang Jing.
The partnership was unveiled at the Pingyao International Film Festival (PYIFF), an event which Jia co-founded in 2017.
The Best Is Yet To Come follows young people moving to Beijing in the early 2000s, and examines the impact of rapid economic growth on their lives.
Momo, currently worth $7.25 billion, launched its own reality TV show last year to help recruit streamers for its app.
The social and dating model has proven lucrative for the brand, which acquired swipe-based Tantan for over $600 million in February 2018.
