ODA Announces Dr Hannah Shimko as Communications and Policy Director
The Online Dating Association (ODA) has announced the appointment of Dr Hannah Shimko as the organisation’s new Communications and Policy Director.
This newly-created role replaces former CEO George Kidd, who retired in the summer. It will focus on the ODA’s development of strategy, policy, communications and engagement with member brands, while also promoting safety and inclusion across the industry.
The appointment marks a complete revamp of the ODA’s direction. It is expected to release more announcements and its objectives for the future of the online dating industry in the coming months.
Shimko explained in a statement: “I am delighted to join the Online Dating Association in this newly developed role. I look forward to engaging with our members, as well as the wider sector, on priorities and challenges in the spheres of policy, regulation, privacy and safety.
“I am also keen to hear all the wonderful stories of the successful relationships the online dating sector makes happen!”
She previously worked as Head of Policy at The Heritage Alliance, a membership body that helps to build and preserve the independent heritage sector in England, at the forefront of communications and advocacy during the pandemic.
A spokesperson for the ODA’s board members added: “Hannah comes with new ideas and approaches that will improve member experiences. Online dating is a vital part of our communities, and the sector has never been as vibrant and dynamic.
“There are real material benefits for joining the ODA, and we are always seeking new members to join the Association to further our agenda and deliver upon our shared objectives.”
