Slack has just partnered with Google, bringing a number of “deep integrations” to the communication platform.
Soon, Slack will have a Google Drive bot, that will collect all Drive notifications within Slack.
This bot will apparently let users approve, reject and settle comments directly from Slack.
Other updates include that Slack will now check who has permission to access a document when it is shared in a Slack channel, and ask you to update your sharing settings if certain people don’t have access.
The new partnership will also let admins connect shared Team Drives with Slack channels.
With this, any new files uploaded to the connected Slack channel will be automatically backed up to a Team Drive, and Team Drive updates will be shared in Slack.
In addition to this, Google Doc previews will soon be available in Slack channels, and admins will be able to provision Slack for their entire company from the G Suite admin console.
Slack said these integrations will be available in the first half of 2017, and are “just the start” of the collaboration between the two tech companies.
