So Syncd Dating App to Shut Down in Business Pivot

Personality-focused dating app So Syncd has been shut down, according to the platform’s CEO & Co-Founder, Jessica Alderson. The company will be pivoting to create ”dating, personality type, and personal growth content”.

The ceasing of operations was announced on LinkedIn by Jessica Alderson, who co-founded So Syncd alongside her sister Louella. The platform revolved around the 16 personality types theory, connecting compatible personality types and creating over 5,000 relationships in its 3+ years of operating.

Jessica Alderson reflected on the state of the online dating industry, sharing “…dating apps have made it infinitely easier to connect, but they haven’t helped us become more patient, forgiving and empathetic. While we still believe in the immense power of dating apps for good, we feel there is a lot of work to be done to improve the quality of connections”.

In their next chapter, Jessica and Louella will continue to help people find meaningful connections, but through publishing informative content and creating resources “designed to help people understand themselves on a deeper level and improve their relationships”.

So Syncd has already been publishing a number of informative media on its YouTube page, including recent video ‘How the 16 Personality Types Flirt with You’:

“This isn’t a goodbye from So Syncd but a pivot towards a domain where we feel we can make the most of our strengths”, Jessica concluded.
