SoulDeep Survey Reveals Shifts in Preferences for Matching Dating Profiles
SoulDeep, an AI chatbot platform focused on enhancing genuine human interaction recently conducted a survey to explore user preferences in online dating.
This survey revealed that a significant portion of online daters prefer straightforward communication. Nearly half (46%) of respondents favor a simple “hi” as the ideal first message, despite such messages often being mocked as “lazy” on social media. Additionally, 28% prefer simple and direct pickup lines, while 31% enjoy a touch of humor in initial interactions.
Findings also identified major red flags in online dating profiles, including ones that users were not actively picking up on their biases against. Group photos (51%) and negative or disrespectful language (48%) topped the list of concerns for users. Interestingly, less than 30% of users are bothered by blank profiles, while dad jokes (7%) and fishing pictures (10%) were deemed the least concerning and had the lowest impact on whether or not an account kept their attention.
Additionally, the data indicates a shift in traditional dating norms. Over a third (34%) of online daters do not have a preference for which gender initiates conversation. Moreover, only 13% of users are concerned about potential dates using curse words in their messages, regardless of gender or the way that the rest of their profile was constructed.
