Spark Networks has announced that David Clark will be joining the business as the new Chief Financial Officer from 10th August.
He’s accumulated more than 20 years of public company CFO experience over the course of his career and currently holds the position at Synchronoss Technologies, a global leader in cloud, messaging and digital products.
Clark also spent five years with The Meet Group, working on the dating and livestreaming company’s IPO in 2014.
Spark Networks CEO Eric Eichmann said in a statement: “David brings a wealth of public market experience and strong industry knowledge to our executive team, and we are delighted to welcome him to Spark.
“I am confident that his financial acumen and industry experience will help improve our capital structure and strengthen our financial market presence.”
It’s hoped that Clark will be able to draw on his experience working on The Meet Group’s hybrid products and help Spark Networks make its own journey into the social discovery space.
A lot of online dating brands are exploring a potential transition to social discovery as the industry looks to improve user retention. This can be done by offering products to focus on platonic connections and other multimedia modes.
Clark added in his own comment: “I am very pleased to join Spark at such an exciting time for the company as it embarks on a new chapter within the rapidly growing social discovery space. I look forward to working with the entire Spark team to execute Spark’s strategic growth plans in social dating for meaningful relationships.”
Departing CFO Bert Althaus was named in GDI’s Power Book this year for his positive work moving the company towards the profitability line.
