Spark Networks Promotes Gitte Bendzulla to Chief Operating Officer

Spark Networks has announced that Gitte Bendzulla has received a promotion and will now serve as the online dating company’s Chief Operations Officer.

She makes history as Spark Networks’ first female COO, and her new responsibilities will mean she oversees its operational efficiency and supports the overall portfolio’s growth plans.

Spark Networks CEO Eric Eichmann said in a statement: “I’m excited to have Gitte promoted to Chief Operating Officer and Chief Legal Officer at Spark. 

“Her knowledge of the company, commitment to excellence and terrific leadership will serve us well as we enter a critical phase for Spark’s success. I look forward to working closely with Gitte for many years to come.”

Bendzulla joined the business in 2018 as General Counsel and over the past two years has picked up the additional roles of Chief Legal Officer, Managing Director and Chief of Staff.

She added in her own comment: “I am thrilled to expand my responsibilities at Spark Networks and support Spark as COO on its exciting journey ahead. My appointment underlines Spark’s strong commitment to inclusion, one of the cornerstones of the Spark culture and a driver for success.

Last month, Tobias Plaputta was promoted to Chief Technology Officer after joining Spark Networks as a developer a decade ago.
