Event-based dating startup Swoonbox has appointed Rita Capek as the Vice President of Growth as it prepares for its first official app store launch.
Capek brings a wealth of investment and advisory experience, having previously contributed to female investment firm 37 Angels and created Ozma Advisor, her own business that supports young and innovative companies.
She will assist throughout the entire process of the roll out, which is due to begin in the US on 2nd August.
Bryan Gray, co-founder of Swoonbox, said in a statement: “Rita brings a wealth of knowledge in consumer insights and product management. She will undoubtedly add value to the Swoonbox team as we participate in an industry that is highly responsive to socio-cultural change.
“We’re confident that her contributions will deliver on the expectations of investors, partners, and users as they continue to seek fresh voices, perspectives and representation.”
Swoonbox users can browse local events, such as concerts or professional sports games, and find potential partners to go with. It facilitates in-app ticket purchasing and uses AI to suggest future matches and events based on past activity.
In the last 12 months, the Brooklyn-based app ran a successful beta test with 3,000 singles in New York City, and managed to raise $10,000 in just 15 hours through a crowdfunding campaign.
Swoonbox is planning to launch in Canada and Mexico, dependent on the results of the US roll-out.
