The Inner Circle has partnered with an etiquette expert to produce a simple guide which teaches singles how to behave respectfully when dating online.
There is also an accompanying digital pledge that users need to take to commit to conducting themselves in an appropriate fashion while on the app.
A recent survey from the selective dating app found that 98% of women would not go on a second date with an attractive person if they had bad manners. 83% of the male respondents also said it would be a deal breaker.
The Inner Circle CEO David Vermeulen explained in a statement: “The impact we have on others’ feelings is far greater than we think. Sometimes when there is a device that replaces face to face interaction we forget about our manners.
“Today’s launch of the etiquette pledge communicates honesty, respect, authenticity and ultimately compassion.”
The pledge has 11 main points and instructs users to be real, true, interactive, decent, respectful, patient, inclusive, kind, reliable, vigilant and courteous.
Jo Bryant is a private etiquette tutor and helped The Inner Circle to come up with the new guidelines.
She said to Luxurious Magazine: “To succeed in [online dating], you have to put great faith into trust, honesty and decency. It’s a two-way street and appropriate manners and good etiquette are of great importance.”
When Vermeulen was interviewed by the Financial Times last year he described his dating site as a platform for successful professional singles who are serious about dating.
