The Meet Group Launches ‘Stream Wars’ Podcast
The Meet Group has launched its own podcast all about the the global livestreaming industry.
‘Stream Wars’ was officially announced with a mini-episode which introduced the series and some of the topics that will be covered in the coming months.
The series is hosted by Lauren Hallanan, VP of Livestreaming at The Meet Group and a former-professional streamer.
Hallanan explains in the promotional episode: “Stream Wars will feature interviews with top streamers who share their tips and tricks for hosting a popular stream, what motivates them to stream, and how streaming has impacted their lives.
“We’ll also talk to engineers and product developers to learn what it takes to build a popular live streaming platform.”
At the time of writing, three half-an-hour long episodes have been released. The first features Geoff Cook, CEO of The Meet Group, who explains how he helped to introduce Western markets to livestreaming.
Cook also goes into detail about how livestreaming can be integrated into a dating platform to create a successful, well-rounded product. GDI’s August Editorial explored whether the future of online dating will be mainly focused on streaming or swiping.
The second episode covers five of the leading Chinese platforms – such as MOMO – and how the market continues to grow. It’s estimated that the country will generate $4.4 billion of livestreaming revenue in 2018.
The most recent upload is an interview with Will Smith, a popular streamer on The Meet Group’s platforms. He goes into detail about how he built up a substantial following and how he makes money from virtual gifts online.
