Tinder CPO Teases App Revamp

Tinder’s Chief Product Officer Mark van Ryswyk hinted at upcoming changes to the global dating platform at a recent event. “It’s a product that you’re going to see evolve significantly, and it’s going to feel fresh and new”, he explained.

“We’re stepping in and making a bold change at Tinder,” van Ryswyk said on stage at the Reuters Momentum festival, reports Fast Company. The platform’s CPO highlighted three key elements that it’s focusing on: respect, realness, and relevancy.

Realness involves showing more to the individual than a few sentences and photos. Relevancy means connecting people with like-minded intentions and preferences. Respect is about creating effective safeguards.

“There’s an opportunity for us to deliver something by end of year that’s going to start to tackle these things”, van Ryswyk outlined.

He also touched on the potential of Generative AI, which will have a “key role”. The platform looks to make use of its vast data when it comes to successful profiles and conversation prompts in order to assist singles.

“Where with these rich data sets can we use to generative AI, not to write the conversation, not to have AI talk to AI, but just to give those little assists, those little nudges to get you through that”, van Ryswyk explained.

“Because often what happens is that’s a moment you stop and maybe you just don’t send that message. And maybe that becomes a misconnection. And wouldn’t that be just so much more powerful if we can just help you find those words to start a great conversation?”, he added.
