Tinder has launched it’s Plus One feature to help singles find a date for a wedding. The feature is available in Explore, and is free to all members. This feature follows the introduction Explore, launched last month to pair users with similar interests, and the Hot Takes poll, also introduced earlier this year.
In addition to launching Plus One, the dating platform has also teamed up WeddingWire, a wedding planning resource, and is giving the first 100 members who sign up for Plus One a grant of $460 to help cover the costs of attending a wedding.
According to WeddingWire, there will be a 20 percent increase in weddings in 2021 and 2022 due to many being postponed during the pandemic. Tinder also noted a 45 percent increase in people saying “plus one” in their bios just from the beginning of this year.
Tinder is also aiding members to ease their anxiety about attending in-person events post-COVID. With all events either postponed or virtual for the past eighteen months globally, users can now gain advice on re-attending physical events. For example, WeddingWire has created a guest guide for attending a wedding. This includes key wedding concerns, such as planning an outfit, budgeting for attending, buying a gift, and proper etiquette for the event.
