Tinder Launches Spoof VR Headset At CES

Tinder VR

Tinder has built an amusing spoof VR headset as a marketing stunt at this year’s CES.

In a blog post announcing the fake gadget, Tinder said: “It seems like everyone is launching a VR headset nowadays. As a tech company, we felt inspired to create one of our own.

“But here’s the thing: our mission has always been to get people together to have real experiences in the real world. So how do we reconcile the fact that VR is the antithesis of this?”

The headset, which Tinder says “removes the V from VR”, is essentially a tandem headset that straps two people’s heads together.

Tinder VRThe Hollywood brand said they built it with the Tinder experience in mind, as just like the dating app, the new headset “only works with a double opt-in”.

Tinder’s marketing stunt also comes complete with a perfectly-executed Apple-style spoof product video, called Introducing Tinder VR.

The Tinder VR headset is on display in a booth at the Consumer Electronics Show that takes place in Las Vegas from 5th-8th January.
