Tinder Matches Can Send Songs with Updated Spotify Integration
Tinder is working on expanding its Spotify partnership by testing a new feature that would allow singles to send previews of their favourite songs in-chat.
The update is currently only available on the less popular web version of the app, which suggests it is just in a trial phase.
When talking to a match, daters can can click the added Spotify button and search for any song that exists on the music streaming service’s extensive database. The recipient will be able to listen to a 30-second preview of the track.
The two platforms have been integrated since September 2016. Tinder users have been able to select their favourite song as an ‘Anthem’ to display on their profile and can also make their top artists and albums visible.
A follow-up found that by connecting a Spotify account singles were increasing their chances of getting a match by 84%.
Spotify has just signed a new global content deal with T-Series, India’s largest record company. The agreement means all 160,000 songs, the majority from Bollywood’s biggest movies and stars, on T-Series’ catalogue will be available to Spotify listeners all over the world.
This is significant for Tinder as the dating app looks to expand in India and secure the majority of dating app users, especially since Bumble has entered the market with a high-profile campaign.
Initial results have shown that Tinder is receiving 18x as many social media mentions versus its competitor in the geo.
