Tinder Partners With Duolingo To Promote Foreign Language Learning

Tinder has teamed up with Duolingo, the popular language learning website and app, to promote bilingualism by giving 100,000 members a free trial month for a premium subscription.

The offer comes after Tinder research found that 76% of members who use the dating app’s Passport feature are matching with somebody who primarily speaks a different language to their own.

Launched last week, users can now take free lessons on Duolingo to better communicate with their long distance connections. With lessons in 40 languages, Duolingo Plus allows redeeming members to have a premium experience with unlimited learning.

Udi Milo, VP of Product at Tinder, said in a statement: “Passport is one of our most popular paid features and since it’s been free we’ve had our busiest day of 2021.

“In the first week alone there was a 25% increase in the number of matches made as a result of the feature, so a partnership with Duolingo will help our members spark conversations easily, no translation needed.”

The collaboration with Duolingo was introduced as part of the Tinder Passport feature, which is available for free to all Tinder members until 30th April.

Users can add a new location and drop a pin to flirt around the world, to give them the feeling of meeting new people around the world, while the majority of international travel is still prohibited.

According to Tinder’s research, users will find most benefit from using Duolingo to learn English, closely followed by Spanish, French, and Japanese.
