Dating Sunday 2025 Arrives, Dating Sites Prepare
Today marks Dating Sunday, the busiest day of the year for online dating platforms. Often dubbed the “Super Bowl of online dating,” this day sees an unprecedented surge in activity as singles set out to make fresh connections and pursue their romantic resolutions every year. 2025 is likely to follow the exact same spike of user activity.
Popular apps like Hinge historically report a 27% increase in likes and a 29% rise in messages compared to an average Sunday, meaning an almost 30% increase in activity overall. For larger platforms, this means a massive spike in users, with the rise itself usually taking place between 7pm and 10pm in any given time zone – due to Sunday evenings being the most likely time for users to wind down and stat looking for matches.
According to Bumble, matches typically increase by 40% between Christmas Eve and Dating Sunday, with this Sunday marking the biggest spike in users over a single day. Tinder’s reports the previous year showed that users were sending 20% more messages than any previous Dating Sunday, which may be a sign that this year’s could have even higher levels of user activity.
Some platforms – notably Hinge – have released articles specifically intending to capitalise on the big day by encouraging users to “date forward” and refresh their dating habits in the new year. We won’t have to wait long to see how effective these campaigns are, but considering how important Dating Sunday can be, there will undoubtedly be some big spikes in user numbers across many different platforms.
