Fitness-Focused Dating App ateam Launches in New York
A new dating and social connection app centered on wellness and fitness called ateam has officially launched in New York. founded by husband-and-wife team Dan Ilani and Megan Baldwin, ateam targets health-conscious singles and those seeking platonic connections who share a lifestyle focused on training, recovery, nutrition, and overall well-being.
The app differentiates itself through several wellness-oriented design choices. It includes an 11-minute daily usage cap to discourage endless scrolling, removes the traditional “Like” button to encourage more organic conversations, and features a no-ghosting policy aimed at fostering respectful interactions. ateam is also offering more than 1,000 free health-focused dates to founding members, ranging from workouts and runs to recovery sessions and wellness experiences.
The launch is supported by a network of fitness industry investors and over 15 studio partners, including SoulCycle, Aarmy, Brooklyn Track Club, Gotham Boxing, and The Yard. These partnerships will power a “Date Night Series” of in-person events. The app comes with an existing 8,000-person waitlist in New York.
ateam positions itself as a response to the loneliness epidemic and the limitations of traditional dating apps. Co-founder Dan Ilani noted that while many people optimize their physical health with trackers and routines, connection often remains left to chance. The app aims to align relationships with wellness values.
