Indigo App Unifies Mastodon and Bluesky in Single Interface
A new app called Indigo has launched aiming to simplify access to the decentralized social web. Developed by Soapbox Software – the team behind the cross-posting tool Croissant – Indigo combines Mastodon (ActivityPub) and Bluesky (AT Protocol) into one unified experience.
The app features a single timeline that blends posts from both networks, with visual distinctions to help users differentiate content: Bluesky profiles appear outlined in blue, while Mastodon profiles use purple. Users can cross-post to both services simultaneously from a unified composer and access custom feeds, lists, and notifications from each network in one place. Additional tools include universal search across both platforms, keyword and user muting, NSFW content filtering, auto-scroll to new posts, and dark mode support.
Indigo builds on the growing interest in decentralized social media, as users seek more control over algorithms, moderation, and data. Rather than forcing users to choose between Mastodon and Bluesky, the app serves as a single client for both, with timeline syncing across iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices.
While basic access is available, full functionality – including cross-posting, timeline sync, and advanced features – requires a paid subscription. Options include $4.99 per month, $34.99 per year, or a one-time purchase of $119.99.
The launch reflects continued fragmentation in the social media landscape following the changes at X, with more and more platforms popping up as alternatives or bridging tools to connect other apps together. Apps like Indigo aim to reduce friction for users who want to participate in multiple open protocols without switching between separate clients.
