Meet Kinksters Shuts Down Following BeeDee Acquisition
The niche dating platform Meet Kinksters is set to shut down operations today on Friday, June 27, following the sale of its mobile app assets to fellow sex-positive dating startup BeeDee. The announcement came through an email to all users that had an account with the platform, giving users advice on how to preserve chats and contact details before the app closes.
Founded in December 2022, Meet Kinksters aimed to create space for users seeking both romantic and sexual compatibility, attracting a global user base drawn to its inclusive, kink-aware mission.
The closure comes after the app’s founder confirmed the transfer of its mobile operations to BeeDee, a move described as a difficult but strategic decision. While the specifics of the original acquisition were kept private, it did allow Meet Kinksters to operate on the Apple App Store rather than being limited purely to Android devices – which implies that the original plan, at least in the short term, was for Meet Kinksters to continue operating as normal.
BeeDee, a newer entrant in the dating space, launched in 2023 and targets similar audiences by offering a platform for open-minded daters, particularly those aligned with alternative sexual preferences and identities. While the Meet Kinksters mobile app had already transitioned under BeeDee’s ownership earlier this year, the upcoming shutdown of the web version marks the official end of the platform’s independent operations.
While Meet Kinksers was always a small app in comparison to giants like Bumble, the loss of a niche platform could leave a growing demand for platforms that support authentic, sexually honest connection – and a now-appless audience that are likely to go hunting for the next best platform within the same niche, or follow whatever new platform may rise from the acquisition.
