Meta Rolls Out New Features for Edits Video Editing App
Meta has released a new set of updates for its standalone video editing app Edits, enhancing creative controls and expanding functionality for creators. The updates, announced on May 14, 2026, focus on giving users more precision over their content.
The most notable addition is improved transition controls. Creators can now adjust the pace and speed of transitions between clips, allowing for smoother, slower merges or faster, more dynamic cuts. This gives greater control over the overall flow and rhythm of videos.
Additional features include text and sticker opacity settings, enabling users to make overlays more subtle or prominent. On iOS, the app now supports Live Photos, letting creators use either the still image or the motion element within projects. Meta has also added over 200 new sound effects to expand audio options.
These changes build on Edits’ one-year anniversary, during which the app has positioned itself as a simplified yet capable alternative to more complex tools like CapCut. The updates aim to help creators maintain consistency and improve production quality without leaving the Meta ecosystem.
Looking ahead, Meta plans to introduce more customizable effects, improved template options, better preference management, and additional AI-powered tools. However, the company may proceed cautiously with AI features following mixed reactions to recent integrations, such as on Threads.
