QuackQuack Study Claims Traditional Family Values Influences Modern Indian City Singles

New research from a dating app has reported Indian city daters’ preferences are heavily swayed by family values and expectations.

The study from QuackQuack, which was published this week (July 11), claimed 4 out of 5 people from Tier 1, 2, and 3 cities believe family principles have a huge impact on the dating world.

Researchers conducted a consumer behavior analysis across 12,000 daters aged between 18 and 40 from these city tiers.

Ravil Mittal, QuackQuack’s Founder and CEO, said: “From what we see regularly, it is safe to say that modern relationships evolve within the framework of traditional and familial values, and studying that is essential to create a more appropriate and culturally sensitive platform for young Indians.”

Key findings highlighted more than 39% of daters from Tier 2 and 3 cities said parent approval and opinions are essential factors in their dating choices.

Nagpur resident Puja said: “I have let go of some great matches merely because I knew my parents wouldn’t approve. It can be frustrating, but after all, they are parents, and it’s a very small price to make them happy.”

The report also showed 25% of daters from Tier 1 and 2 cities declared they instinctively opt for a person that reflects their parents and are compelled to copy or differ from their dynamics.

However, 9% of daters mentioned they deliberately find a person that diverts from their parent’s expectations. This is explained further as singles aged over 28-years-old stated it came from unrealistic expectations while daters below 25 believe it is usually a form of rebellion to create their own relationship.

Rohan, 21, said: “Maybe it’s a GenZ thing, but we want to make decisions about our dating life independent of our family values or parent’s opinions; that does not mean we do not have respect for them. Both are separate.”
