Survey finds that Indian Women Prefer Dating Apps for Safety and Empowerment

A recent survey by Indian dating app QuackQuack reveals that 46% of Indian women view online dating apps as a safer way to connect and network, especially compared to real-life encounters. The study included 7,500 women aged 18 to 35 from Tier 1, 2, and 3 cities, with participants largely being working professionals in fields like IT, healthcare, and academia.

As the safety of women in both public and private spaces remains a pressing concern, many women are opting for dating apps where security features provide them with a sense of control and protection. According to Ravi Mittal, Founder and CEO of QuackQuack, there has been a 12% increase in female users over the past two years – largely due to women prioritizing safety, with many expressing that dating apps offer better protection than traditional dating spaces.

The ability to communicate behind a screen and report uncomfortable situations gives women more confidence, as highlighted by several respondents in the survey. User verification is another critical aspect attracting women to these platforms: 4 in 6 women aged 18 to 28 cited the verification system as a key reason for using dating apps, reducing the risk of encountering fake profiles.

Additionally, a large number of surveyed women said that added safety of dating platforms was far more important than a larger dating pool, and allows women to feel more empowered as a whole. 29% of women from Tier 2 and 3 cities reported that the anonymity provided by these platforms allows them to take the lead in romantic and networking endeavors without fear of societal judgment.

In an environment where personal safety and autonomy are paramount, dating apps are becoming an essential tool for Indian women to connect, date, and network in a way that empowers them while reducing potential risks.
