Hinge Leads AI Visibility Ranking for Dating Apps

Hinge ranks first in 5W Public Relations’ inaugural Dating App AI Visibility Index 2026, ahead of Tinder despite a smaller user base. The index evaluates how generative AI engines surface and recommend dating platforms across user-intent queries. In other words, due to the editorial coverage around the platform and the wording of its own marketing, AI is far more likely to recommend Hinge than other platforms when users ask it for dating app advice, making it the “default” answer for a lot of related queries.

The research tested over 50 queries on app selection, demographic fit, safety, paid versus free models, and relationship intent using ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews. Hinge topped the overall ranking, followed by Tinder, Match.com, Bumble, and The League. OkCupid, Plenty of Fish, Coffee Meets Bagel, eHarmony, and Raya completed the top ten.

Ronn Torossian of 5W noted that AI recommendations increasingly favor platforms demonstrating trust, safety transparency, and specialized positioning. Apps with transparent safety reporting scored 2.1 times higher in citation share. Those with clear demographic positioning or expert-led editorial content outperformed generic platforms by 1.8 to 2.0 times. Verification depth also mattered, with structured protocols giving apps a 1.6 times advantage.

Hinge dominates queries about serious relationships. Tinder leads casual dating searches. Match.com and eHarmony perform strongly for users over 35. Bumble ranks high on women-first messaging, while The League and Raya lead in vetted membership categories despite smaller scale. All of these platforms marketed themselves around specific niches or types of dating, and that has caused AI to settle them into those exact categories – with Hinge happening to be the one that appears most often for general dating app queries.
