Tinder Swipes Surge in France Month Leading Up to 2024 Summer Olympics

Tinder reported a sudden activity increase on the platform ahead of the start of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris this month. 

The online dating services revealed activity data following the Open Ceremony event last week (July 26), which showed a massive rise in monthly users’ usage in France. 

Internal statistics, based on the period between 1-25 July, reported a 20% increase in Swipe activity in France and a 103% increase in Tinder Passport Mode use in key tourist locations in Paris. 

American, Brazilian, and Turkish Passport Mode users are noted to be the top 3 country origins to change their location to France leading up to the games. 

Meanwhile, Football (American Soccer), Basketball, and Swimming are highlighted as the top sports currently selected as interests in users’ bios. 

Findings also mentioned gymnastics is the fastest growing sports interest with a 31% rise, followed by basketball with a 14% increase.

 Data also revealed a 52% surge of users with the job descriptions ‘olympian’ and ‘athlete’ (+43%) on Tinder in Paris.
