FROM THE WEB: ‘Love Algorithms’ — The Washington Post
The Washington Post has recently published an interesting article on the topic of love algorithms, focusing on Aaron Schildkrout (left), co-founder of HowAboutWe.com.
The article, by states how Schildkrout believed he could help individuals find love using a series of complex mathematical calculations in an attempt to work out compatibility.
Branding itself as the “offline dating site”, HowAboutWe suggests dates – such as seeing a movie, talking a walk – which users can then respond to, using the site’s messaging system.
However HowAboutWe, founded in 2009, has started to rely more heavily on formulas.
The site is intended for those who are looking for long-term relationships, and users are required to complete a questionnaire with “hundreds of parts”.
Many components are taken into account, including target age-range.
The HowAboutWe team employs psychologists and computer scientists as well as developers.
