Bumble in Advanced Talks to Go Private in $1 Billion Deal

Bumble is in advanced talks with Ithaca Holdings to take the dating app company private in a deal that would value it at about $1 billion. Ithaca Holdings is a technology investment company founded by Silicon Valley executives Ravi Gupta and John Hegeman. Neither company has confirmed the negotiations.

Bumble shares surged around 50% on Monday, closing at $3.80. The company had a market value of approximately $389 million at the end of last week. Reuters previously reported that Bumble was exploring a potential sale.

Founded by Whitney Wolfe Herd in 2014, Bumble went public in 2021 with a valuation of $14 billion. The company generated $966 million in annual revenue in 2025, down nearly 10% from the previous year. Its paying user base stood at 3.7 million at the end of 2025, following a decline of more than 11% during the year.

Wolfe Herd returned as CEO in March 2025 and has since been working to refresh the platform, introducing AI-powered features and new ways for users to connect. A potential move to private ownership would mark a significant new chapter for Bumble, although no agreement has been announced.
