This month, Fortune.com published an exclusive look at a new book that tells one man’s story about his first year working at a technology startup.

The book, entitled “Disrupted, My Misadventure in the Start-Up Bubble”, was written by American writer Dan Lyons, who decided to document his experience after leaving his job as an editor to take up a marketing role at HubSpot.

The chapter previewed on Fortune.com begins with Lyons detailing his first day at the company, the training process he went through upon starting and the company’s predominantly young workforce.

During the chapter, he also explains how working at HubSpot made him realise that most of what he thought he knew about the modern tech industry was in fact wrong, ending with his ultimate departure from the company.

The book was published by Hachette Books on 5th April, and you can read the full excerpt here.
