‘Tough Love’ Host Launches Background Check App
A new app from the host of VH1’s Tough Love aims to cut out dating fraud by providing user background checks.
Users of LoveLab add their personal details and the app verifies, authenticates and runs a criminal background check on them.
It is founded by Steve and JoAnn Ward, who also own matchmaking service MasterMatchmakers.
Steve is host and executive producer of VH1’s reality matchmaking show Tough Love.
LoveLab have launched an Indiegogo Campaign in order to raise funds for their app.
A press release states that the campaign funds will be used for:
- Developing and deploying a fully interoperable communications solution on a JS technology stack that will mainly enhance the messaging component and also handle XMPP based video chat messages and push notifications.
- Incorporating the SkyBiometry cloud-based Face Detection and Recognition API into the app as another layer of authentication & fraud prevention.
- Factoring in Traulioo’s global identity verification APIs and software (specifically their TruDetect social identity proofing solution).
Contributions to the campaign range from $450 – $10,000, with different sums offering various perks.
For example users who contribute more than $1000 will receive a personal dating coaching session from Steve Ward.
The app is available for free for iOS here and Android devices here.
