Meetic Aquires Swedish Dating Company e-kontakt

Meetic

Meetic has announced it has acquired Scandinavian online dating company e-kontakt.

e-kontakt, which was founded in 2005, is based in Norrköping, Sweden, and is a big player in the Nordic online dating market.

By buying the company from Intodate International, Meetic further expands its European influence into Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

CEO of Meetic Alexandre Lubot said: “In March we acquired Spraydate, founded 12 years ago and considered as the pioneer of the Swedish online dating scene.

“The e-kontakt acquisition will further consolidate the MEETIC Group’s leadership position in Sweden, where we run our online dating services under the Match.com brand name.”

IAC, the company that owns Match.com, announced on 25th September that they were increasing their stake in Meetic from 80.5% to 87.5% by buying the remaining shares of co-founder Marc Simoncini.
