Reddit Reports Over 23 Million Daily Spam Views

Reddit is experiencing a substantial rise in spam activity, recording more than 23 million spam views per day as the platform becomes a frequent reference source for artificial intelligence systems.

The social media site detailed its efforts to combat inauthentic content in an update published on July 6, 2026. Its improved AI-powered detection systems are now blocking approximately 25,000 spam posts and comments daily. This represents a 20% reduction in spam exposure compared to the previous year. Most of the detected activity is stopped before users see it.

Reddit’s approach includes early screening of new accounts and the use of large language models (LLMs) to identify coordinated patterns of artificial behavior and manufactured hype. The platform also requires verification for accounts flagged as potentially automated. In addition, it has removed nearly 2 million inauthentic post votes per day over the past three months.

These measures aim to preserve the integrity of user-generated discussions. Reddit’s value as a data source for AI chatbots stems from its crowd-sourced, human-curated responses, which provide insights into genuine public opinion on various topics, including products and brands. Spam and vote manipulation threaten the reliability of this information.

The platform reported improvements in handling spam and hate speech, along with a more than 40% reduction in false positives in its detection systems. Maintaining clean feedback streams is seen as essential for Reddit’s continued relevance in the AI era.
