X Updates Video Editor with Green Screen and Multi-Language Captions
X has released an updated video editor and recorder in its iOS app, adding features such as green screen recording and multi-language captioning.
The new tools are integrated into an overlay interface designed to simplify video creation and posting. Users can now access expanded options directly within the capture and editing flow. Nikita Bier, X’s head of product, stated that enhancing tools for creators remains a priority, with additional video editor updates planned in the coming weeks.
The changes form part of X’s ongoing efforts to increase video activity on the platform. In 2024, former CEO Linda Yaccarino described X as a “video first platform,” noting significant growth in video views. The company has tested features like a dedicated video tab and has arranged deals for original video content.
Despite these initiatives, X continues to lag behind TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube in video engagement and overall usage. The updated editor aims to make video creation more accessible and potentially encourage more users to post original video content.
Green screen functionality allows for background replacement during recording, while multi-language captioning supports broader audience reach. Both features align with common tools available on competing short-form video platforms.
The rollout is currently limited to the iOS version of the app. No specific timeline was provided for Android availability.
