DoingSomething Honoured At ShinyShiny Awards

DoingSomething, the activity-based dating site, has been voted Matchmaker of the Year by readers of ShinyShiny.

ShinyShiny is a news site that focuses “on the way technology is enriching the lives of women”, and hold annual awards celebrating the best in tech.

And their readers voted DoingSomething the best dating site, thanks to their fun approach to dating, and events like Giant Twister and Sleepover at The Shard.

The site lets you say what kind of date you want to go on, such as a “sushi masterclass”, and see if anyone else is interested in going with you.

Other dating services who were recognised included Tinder – who won highly commended, despite having a “bad rap” this year.

Honourable mentions went to Happn, the French app that picks up profiles of people you’ve passed during the day.

The other mention went to Smeeters, which focuses on creating a fun night out between two groups of friends, 3 guys and 3 girls, who get matched and meet up in a bar.

The last mention was for Dattch, the lesbian and bisexual app created for women by women, which has expanded to the US this year.
