WATCH: Interview with Thede Loder, One Of The Original Programmers for Match.com
As part of their That Was Me series – which looks at pioneers of popular culture – Mashable have spoken to Thede Loder, one of the original developers at the birth of Match.com.
Loder was brought on by Match.com’s founder, Gary Kremen, back in 1995.
He created many of the basic matching algorithms, database layouts and profile features that are still seen in online dating today.
The young programmer Loder left the company in 1996, when founder Kremen was pushed out by the board.
When Match.com was later sold in 1997 for $7m, Kremen only walked away with $50,000.
