Indian dating site Shaadi.com has a new CEO, after People Group founder Anupam Mittal stepped down from his position.
The dating company’s new CEO is former COO, Gourav Rakshit.
Mittal started Shaadi in 1996, then created parent company People Group in 2004, which also has property and real estate business Makaan.com, social networking site Fropper.com and mobile media company Mauj Mobile.
Mittal said he has stepped down to focus on new areas of expansion for Shaadi and People Group.
The People Group founder told the Economic Times: “Day to day responsibilities will now move to Gourav, while I still continue to guide the company with a focus on corporate development and acquisitions.”
New CEO Rakshit has worked with People Group since 2007, having also worked at Nestle, Infosys and Planetasia.
People Group is looking to raise around $100m for its worldwide expansion plans for both Shaadi and mobile application business Mauj Mobile .
The company has also made some new executives hires, appointing Aditya Save as CMO and Ketan Doshi as CTO.
In January, People Group announced they had bought a 25% stake in dating app company Thrill.
With this move, it merged its social and dating platform Fropper with dating app Thrill.
At the time, Mittal said combining the two apps made it “the largest entity in the online dating space in India, from users and revenue perspective.”
