Canadian dating site Plenty of Fish has hit 100m users, the company revealed this week.

The CEO and founder Markus Frind revealed the milestone, which comes after launching the site over 12 years ago.

PoF also revealed that their annual run rate is sitting at $100m for 2015.

The company also said revenue has doubled since 2012, with almost 80% of users now accessing the site via a mobile device.

Frind said: “Since our shift to mobile we’ve seen rapid growth both in terms of users and revenue.

“Our revenue model has also evolved from one driven by advertising to one driven by paid membership, indicating that, now more than ever, singles are willing to pay for an enhanced user experience.”

When Frind was still the only employee, the site had over 10m users, and upwards of $10m in revenue.

“Reaching the 100 million user milestone means we’ve been able to connect more people and create more relationships than anyone else in the online dating space,” the PoF founder said.

“Our focus moving forward is to continue to innovate our algorithm and technology to assist with even more qualified matches, leading to more successful, long-lasting relationships.”
