Dating apps account for 20% of the highest grossing UK iOS apps this year, according to new research.

The data comes from Juniper, who have detailed market trends and forecasts for apps, and app stores, over the next five years.

Juniper expect annual app revenues to hit $99bn by 2019.

Their research predicts that games will continue to have the largest app revenues over the next few years.

However Juniper predict the highest growth will be seen in lifestyle applications like dating, navigation and eBooks.

In the first few months of 2015, there are four dating services in top 20 grossing UK iOS apps.

These are Match.com, Zoosk, Tinder and Plenty of Fish.

The report says with online dating now mainstream, “most net growth in the sector is likely to occur via smartphone usage.”

The study, entitled Apps & App Stores: Market Trends & Forecasts 2015-2019, also found that 235bn apps will be downloaded this year.

However despite this, only 1% of applications are paid at the point of download.

Interestingly, they also found that Baidu is the second-largest storefront behind Google.
