Tinder is being used by an animal rescue centre to try and help abandoned dogs find a home.
Social Tees, a New York-based animal rescue, are using the IAC-owned app to put profiles of dogs on the dating app.
The profiles were added with the help of internship program The Barn from BBH.
Around 7.6m dogs are abandoned across the US every year.
The profiles appear alongside Tinder’s normal profiles, if you are in the New York area.
When you match up with them, you are sent a message that includes an email address so you can adopt the dog, or take them for a walk.
According to TechCrunch, the project has had 1,500 matches in 24 hours, and that a dog has already found a home.
The idea has been seen before – BarkBuddy is a Tinder for dogs app, where potential owners swipe through profiles of dogs.
The co-founder of Snap Interactive, Darrell Lerner also turned his attention to re-housing abandoned dogs, with site AllPaws, that uses an online dating interface to match dogs with owners.
