BlueCity Publishes Anti-Discrimination Video With United Nations AIDS Programme
BlueCity has released a video on Chinese social media platforms as part of its work with the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) to tackle discrimination in the community.
The new video is titled ‘Would You Discriminate Against Me?’ and shows the wide range of ways LGBTQ people face discrimination in their daily lives. This includes issues like living with HIV, workplace bias, and family acceptance of all sexualities and gender identities.
It was viewed over one million times since it was first published last week, while gaining even more traction on Weibo and WeChat.
Founder and CEO Baoli Ma explained in a statement: “We’re immensely proud of this co-production, which highlights the impact of discrimination on the lives of people across society.
“Again, it reminds us of the power of education and inclusion in ending inequalities and creating more accepting and diverse societies to the benefit of all.”
BlueCity and UNAIDS first started working together on 1st March, otherwise known as ‘World Zero Discrimination Day’.
They have released a series of awareness building events to try and end various inequalities across the APAC region. This includes public exhibitions, posters and an upcoming music video with popular rap group ‘C-BLOCK’.
The social networking company announced last week that its health programme had obtained an internet hospital license. ‘He Health’ is now able to offer a greater range of services to treat men’s health issues.
