Bumble has added ‘Christmas Markets’ to its list of interests that singles can choose to appear on their profiles, to encourage festive dating. The introduction of this interest adds to the host of additional interests currently hosted on the platform, allowing singles to match with other that have interests and hobbies in common.
Naomi Walkland, Head of Bumble UK & Ireland, said: “With winter firmly upon us and Christmas just round the corner, dating is getting festive. Drinking on rooftop bars is on the way out to be replaced by ice skating and visits to Christmas markets. We want to encourage people to get out there and have fun dating this winter. To inspire festive first dates, we’ve introduced a new Christmas Markets interest badge so you can share your love of festive locals with future dates, plan a visit and see if there’s a spark whilst sipping gluhwein.”
The introduction of the Bumble Christmas Market interest follows the launch of their 2022 trends research. The leading women-first platform revealed that boozy dates are set to take a back seat in the next twelve months, with hobby-based dates set to take precedent as the new wave of dating grows. The trends also found that one in three people on Bumble the pandemic has drastically changed what they are looking for in a partner, and globally, two in three people say they are now prioritising emotional availability, and one in four say they care less about appearances.
The research also found that users a consciously single, with the pandemic making more than half of us (53%) realise that it’s fine to be single. Looking ahead, people are consciously making a decision to be single.
