Competition and Markets Authority Concludes Venntro’s 18-Month Dialogue

It has today been announced that Venntro Media Group’s confidential 18-month dialogue with the UK-based Competitions and Markets Authority (CMA) has concluded.

As the leading white label dating business in the world, Venntro has worked closely with the CMA to ensure its business model is transparent, fair and compliant with all current and planned future legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Moving forward in continuing to provide its leading white label dating services, it has been confirmed that Venntro has provided a range of undertakings to the CMA under section 219 of the Enterprise Act 2002. The company has promised future compliance with further consumer protection regulation and practice.

Venntro has also agreed that it will be clear with its customers about how it shares their personal information and ensure that it is transparent in providing details of the number of its members.

Examples of the legally binding commitments will include clearer prior warnings before the auto-renewal of certain long subscriptions and removing a clause from its terms and conditions that gave Venntro the right to unilateral variation of its terms and conditions.

Venntro Media Group exclusively told GDI: “We collaborated closely with the CMA throughout the process. During that time, the CMA had full access to our business, systems, data and staff. We would like to thank our team for their diligent approach over the last 18 months, enabling the business to support our partners and consumers whilst ensuring the CMA had all the information they needed as part of the process.

“We believe the conclusion of this process demonstrates the integrity of our business and our desire to ensure informed transparency for all the UK consumers who use dating sites powered by WhiteLabelDating.com and we hope that the other white label dating platforms will step up and provide the same level of informed consent, transparency and compliance in their business to protect UK consumers.”

After the action against Venntro, the CMA is providing more support and care for consumers by issuing warning letters to 14 other dating apps and websites to request that they review their terms and practices to ensure they are complying to the consumer protection law.
