Actress and comedian Rebel Wilson has recently announced that she co-founded a new dating app called Fluid. The platform sets itself apart by not asking users to define themselves or who they’re looking for.
“This is the first dating app where you don’t have to actually define yourself or tick a box to say ‘I’m straight, I’m gay, I’m bisexual,’ and you don’t have to describe what you are looking for”, Wilson told People magazine.
“You might just be interested in checking out a wider dating pool like I was. It covers a lot of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum, but I think even if you’re straight you could use the app and have an amazing time”, she explained.
Wilson shared that the platform operates with an algorithm that detects who users are connecting with and which profiles users spend more time looking at. This means the platform can naturally evolve its recommendations as a user’s preferences change.
The dating app’s creation is influenced by Wilson’s own journey with love, after the actress announced her relationship with a woman in mid-2022.
She states that Fluid would have helped her explore relationships with women earlier, saying that “I wish that this was around five years ago”.
Rebel Wilson is a comedian and actress known for her role in the Pitch Perfect film series. Fluid is available for download on the Apple App Store.
