hati: A New Dating App for Quality Connections
hati is a new dating platform that looks to create meaningful connections, adopting a number of features which promote authenticity. After launching its waitlist on Valentine’s Day, the platform already has over 1000 pre-launch sign ups.
Founded by Zaahirah Adam, the platform aims to provide an alternative to swipe-based platforms where users are “just collecting matches”. Instead, its website explains that it prioritises “transforming every match into a meaningful date and fostering authentic connections”.
It does this by having specific requirements for each user profile. Firstly, every user will be verified. Secondly, voice notes will be used in place of the written bio, with every profile also required to have a video element. Users will have free access to advanced filtering options so they can find the people they want to form serious relationships with.
Once users are matched, hati encourages communication that leads to meaningful connections.
The platform doesn’t provide any chat functionality, offering instead the ability to schedule a phone date between users. After this conversation, users are asked whether they want to continue talking or to unmatch, providing clarity and reducing ghosting.
hati will help make these interactions possible by handling the booking of phone and in-person dates, based on user preferences. To move away from the swiping culture, each dater on hati will have a limited number of dates and matches per week.
Looking ahead, the platform is set to enable profile building soon for those who have signed up. Once it reaches the critical mass of 15,000 signups, the app is set to go live.
