Hickey Reveals UX & Safety Updates
Casual dating app Hickey has shared new information regarding an update to its community guidelines, user reporting, and anti-fraud systems. These updates come as the platform approaches one million sign-ups.
Hickey sees itself as “an exciting way to find other like-minded people who just aren’t ready for that commitment yet!”. In a recent statement, the dating app highlighted a number of product enhancements.
Enhanced user reporting
Among its latest updates is round-the-clock support for Hickey users, the platform explains. Through a variety of channels, users will be able to share feedback and complaints that will be addressed by customer service, community managers, and legal experts.
“Hickey is committed to creating not just a platform, but a community that’s safe, comfortable, and friendly for everyone. Understanding the vast spectrum of interactions on social platforms, we recognized early on the need for robust mechanisms that protect our users and enhance the quality of social discourse”, shared Hickey App’s CEO, Matthew.
“One of our key initiatives is the consumer feedback system. It’s a mechanism that allows our users to report any form of inappropriate behavior or language they encounter, such as malicious harassment, personal attacks, or fraudulent content. We take these reports seriously and act swiftly to address them”, he added.
In addition to this improved ability to report inappropriate behaviour, the platform will also provide incentives to encourage users to participate in creating a friendly environment for all.
“Transparency and fairness are at the core of our operations. When a report is made, we ensure that both the reporter and the reported party are treated with fairness. We conduct thorough investigations to understand the context and nature of the reported issue. It’s crucial for us to protect personal privacy throughout this process, which is why all reports are handled confidentially,” explained Hickey App’s Head of Development, Lyn Davis.
Updated community guidelines
The platform stated that it underwent a “comprehensive overhaul” of its community guidelines, providing clearer explanations of appropriate behaviour.
The updated guidelines highlight that Hickey encourages freedom and “openness to new things”, however that “freedom coexists with respect to other people’s boundaries”.
Among its guidelines, the dating platform highlights that “mutual and enthusiastic consent” is a core tenet of its values, helping to establish comfortable boundaries. Additionally, it reminds users to always be themselves, not pretend to be someone else.
In this new update, users will now be guided through these directives during the sign-up process. This means that newcomers “understand the platform’s expectations from the outset”, Hickey explained.
Detecting suspicious behaviour
Hickey shared that it is deploying an anti-fraud system that can detect users that appear to be acting maliciously. It explained that these processes will alert the app’s operations team when risks are detected, allowing for a prompt intervention.
